When asked about the inspiration behind “The Patient Assassin,” Anita revealed that she stumbled upon the story of Udham Singh while researching for her previous book, “Sophia: Princess, Suffragette, Revolutionary.” She was immediately drawn to the complex and fascinating character of Udham Singh and was amazed that his story was not widely known. “I couldn’t believe that such a significant event in history, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, could be forgotten and not taught in schools or remembered in popular culture,” Anita said. The more she delved into Udham Singh’s story, the more she felt a responsibility to share it with the world.
